“Kingdom Assignment raises money for United Way”
Feb 15, 2010
Thirty groups of students from Ursuline College and its elementary partner schools have turned $3,000 in seed money into a $16,397.95 contribution to the United Way of Chatham-Kent.
The 2010 Kingdom Assignment saw each group receiving $100 through a donation to United Way from Paul Wubben, St. Clair Catholic District School Board director.
The students then took the money and used it in a variety of ways to help raise more money for the cause.
Their projects ranged from bake sales and raffles to buying warm toques and hats and donating them to the Salvation Army.
This is the second year for the Kingdom Assignment which to date has raised almost $32,000.
"This tremendous contribution is a demonstration of the mission of Catholic education and the difference it makes in the lives of our students and our communities," said Wubben in a news release. "The Kingdom Assignment is just one of the ways in which our school communities seek to be the hands and feet of Christ as we serve those who need our help."
