There was truly a lump in my throat and a sense of being overwhelmed as 516 people came forward this past Sunday morning representing 360 commitments to participate in Kingdom Assignment2. It was amazing to see the Holy Spirit at work in hearts and lives as we responded to His prompting.

With great expectation, I am looking forward to how God will affirm our actions and multiply our commitments in the days ahead.

Thank you for your willingness to walk in sacrifice, surrender, submission, simplicity, servanthood . . . and to be surprised! We each have offered to sell an item or items worth $100, and give the money to the poor. As we write a new ending to the story of the rich young ruler in our own lives, it is not a response of “not me”, but an enthusiastic “Count Me In!” . . . and we are counting on you.

To help facilitate this experience there will be a Treasure Sale in the Family Life Center at Fair Haven on Saturday, March 6. You can reserve your space, bring your item(s), and sell them as part of one, giant sale. To reserve your space, you can email Sheila Cavanaugh at scav@fhmin.org and ensure your place in the Treasure Sale. Another option is to sell your treasure on ebay through Fair Haven. You can drop your item(s) off at the receptionist desk (Door “O”), and we can list it, sell it, ship it, and receive payment toward the Kingdom Assignment 2, all through Fair Haven’s account. If you have questions, please call the church receptionist at 662.2100.

We anticipate receiving an offering from our treasures, and for the poor on Sunday, April 25. This offering is committed to Help for Haiti, Hand2Hand Ministry, Children’s Hunger Fund, and Kingdom Assignment China. Each of these efforts will bring help for people in need, and show the love of Christ in action. Thank you for your generosity!

As you begin to think about your participation, some of you will know right away what you need to sell. For others, it may take greater prayer, reflection, and openness to the moving of God’s Spirit in your heart. Either way, it is surrendering and submitting sacrificially to the lordship of Jesus Christ in your life. Let you choice be one that communicates your desire to follow Jesus more fully, and let Him have the central position in your heart.

As we prayer and act together, I know God will respond once again in miraculous ways! He did in the first Kingdom Assignment, as we offered our talents to be multiplied by Him. I know it will happen in Kingdom Assignment2 as we offer Him our treasure, and willingly give to the poor.
